Select or download a compatible Apple restore image, choose resources, and install into a VM backed by Apple’s Virtualization framework. Useful for OS-version validation, clean-room testing, and isolated Mac workflows.

Linux

Install ARM64 distributions from ISO, create cloud-init-enabled environments, attach shared folders, and use SlateVM’s Linux guest-tools path. A strong fit for services, build systems, reproducible development, and desktop compatibility work.

Linux on capable Apple silicon

Nested virtualization, when the stack supports it.

Build Linux environments for virtualization-aware development, infrastructure validation, and VM-in-VM workflows—without leaving SlateVM’s guided creation experience.

On supported Apple-silicon hosts running macOS 15 or later, SlateVM can request Apple’s nested-virtualization capability for Linux guests. The option is available only when the host framework reports support, keeping configuration aligned with the Mac that will run it.
