Windows host

SlateVM on your Windows PC.

x64 and ARM64 PCs run Linux and Windows virtual machines on Windows’ built-in hypervisor — each in its own window, with the same MCP tools as every other host.

Guests

Linux desktop and server, and Windows 10/11 guests (x64 guests on x64 PCs, ARM64 guests on ARM64 PCs).

Requirements

Windows 10 or 11 Pro, Enterprise, or Education with the built-in hypervisor (Hyper-V) turned on. Installed from an MSI; updates itself.

Guests run on the hypervisor built into Windows; SlateVM provides the library, consoles, per-VM windows, and MCP.

Desktop shortcuts

Right-click a VM to put a shortcut on the desktop that opens it directly.

Hands-off Windows installs

Windows guests install unattended to a ready desktop with guest tools.

Same tools

Every MCP tool and error code matches the Mac and Linux hosts.
